Type and Scope of book: A reduced version of the multiauthored Sabinston textbook “Tratado de Cirugía. Fundamentos biológicos de la práctica quirúrgica moderna (19th Edition)” covering only those sections devoted to digestive surgery (esophagus, stomach, small bowel, colon and rectum, liver, biliary tract and exocrine pancreas). Few additional areas of the general surgery (abdominal wall, retroperitoneum and spleen) are also covered.The contents of every chapter are supported by updated bibliography and a list of selected references with a brief summary of the main findings. High quality colour pictures, diagnostic and therapeutic algorithms and schemes are very useful to the better understand the information provided for each topic.

You get an online version with the paper text. Access to the online version allows you to watch videos of different minimally invasive surgical techniques.

 

Recommended readership: It is a highly recommended textbook for medical students in their fourth and fifth year.
